End of the Year Celebration

The SIP celebrated their success this season with an end-of-the-year party.  All of the parents pitched in with the food, Nancy Tolliver brought an incredible cake, and Tom Sheil was in charge of awards for the afternoon...awards like "Student Most Likely to Break Out in Song" and "The Raisin Award" just to name a couple. Mr. Albert as well as the other consultants were presented with tokens of appreciation from the parents.  The students received 2 DVDs each.  One was a DVD of all of their competitive performances for the season and the other DVD was entitled "The Journey" which is posted on this sight. Enjoy a few of the sights from the afternoon.

2011 Sparkman High School Indoor Percussion- The Journey

A great teacher is one who not only teaches but motivates.  Mr. Albert, along with the others who worked with Indoor Percussion  this season were motivators.  They set the bar high and not only taught the students how to do it; they made them believe they could do it! It was a joy to watch as the season unfolded. Congratulations to the 2011 SHS Indoor Percussion Unit!  Ya'll made it happen!

Good Luck to the 2011-2012 SHS Drumline and Front Ensemble!  The standard has been set high!  Keep going with it! - Bev Smith

SHS Percussion Indoor Concert, 5-17-11

This is the final SIP concert for the 2011 season. The concert was non-marching even though the kids had an awesome marching drill during the regular season and won the SCGC PSA Championship as well as being named Alabama State Champions. Prior to this concert, for a week, the schools in Madison County where Sparkman High School is located, were closed due to power outage. Many, many homes in this school district suffered devastating tornado damage. When school reopened, much time was taken in an effort to resume some sense of normalcy for the students. Marching practice for the concert was not high on the priority list, understandably. The hard work that the Unit put in during the entire season has shown and it has been a pleasure watching them. Congratulations SIP!

(The actual performance begins around 6:12.)
