Game 5 - Sparkman vs. Clay Chalkville-Performing the third selection of their half-time show, Urban Groove.
This was taped from the visitor side at the Sparkman vs. Clay Chalkville game on Sept. 24, 2010. The selection from "Cirque du Soleil" has a heavy percussion presence in some sections and sounded awesome! Another parent taped the entire show from the "home side" and it is posted on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe6P3Ze9eZw.
Game 5 Sights: Sparkman vs. Clay Chalkville, Sept. 24, 2010
Hooray! We made it! |
Waiting to go on at halftime. |
Important note to bass line: Be sure to watch for oncoming football players! They just might run into you! |
Water break after the show. Can we say mass chaos! |
Chase trying to get it together. Hang in there...you'll get there! |
Nothing like an ice cold coke! |
Some game nights are just harder than others. |
Part of the snare line- Judy and Matt. |
Blue is definitely your color, Rick! |
Sparkman vs. Clay Chalkville was definitely a hard game both for the football team and the band. Just getting there proved to be a somewhat monumental task for our Marching Senators but when they got on that field at half-time, they sounded awesome! Great Job to all of you!

The Drum Majors leading the Marching Senators into the stadium at Hazel Green. |
Drumline "playing" the band into position in the stands. |
Awesome moves by the band as the drumline is featured during Caravan. |
Mr. Raney leading the band in the alma mater after the game. |
Front Ensemble waiting to jump ... |
Front Ensemble landing... |
Don't know what I did on this one but I like it! |
I get by with a little help from my friends. Colleen, Front Ensemble Captain, helps load a stand from the drumline. |
Taking it down, and going home...hard loss. |
Hmmm...Wonder who this snare belongs to? Answer will come next week. |

Game 3 -SHS Marching Band Halftime Performance, September 10, 2010
The band performs the last piece of their half-time show, "Urban Groove" during the Sparkman vs. Decatur game. The piece entitled, "Cirque" sounded great! Hat's off to the soloists!

Recognize the snare guy in the front row, second from right?
That's SHS's Percussion Instructor, Mr. Jack Albert in his younger days when he was a member of the Madison Scouts! That's some serious drumming!

Game 2 -Sparkman vs. Grissom, Sept. 3, 2010
Practice time before the game. Sorry about the echo...I was standing beneath the concrete bleachers while videoing. Still sounds great though!
Are We Having Fun Yet?
Being a member of the Sparkman High School Band is a lot of hard, hot work. I've said that you really need to love what you're doing to invest that much time and energy in it. I would say that a picture (or video) is worth a 1000 words and is proof that these kids love it...at least from what we can see!
Sights from the Second Game of the Season: Sparkman vs. Grissom
"In the Lot" warming up before show time. |
3rd Qtr. Break - Let's get this stuff put away so we can have a break! |
Watching Grissom's band perform from the endzone. |

Can we say major traffic jam??? |
You talkin' to me? |
Can you guess the person that goes with this hand? |
No words are necessary...the face says it all! |
WE ARE SPARKMAN!
What a great headline to wake up to in the Huntsville Times. Sparkman absolutely ruled the night pounding Grissom 38-17 and Laquince Love had an awesome game with the help of his teammates. Congratulations Senators! Keep it up! (Check back soon. Band pictures will be posted when I get a chance.)
